Hilda
Doyle is one of Columbus, Ohio's musical treasures. She has been
entertaining since the age of five and continues to perform in
Columbus and nationally. Her accomplishments include performances
with nationally known artists, solo and collaborative concerts,
television and radio spots and special events (including St. Patrick's
Day on Channel 6's Good Morning Columbus).
Hilda
describes her style as "Acoustic -- Encompassing Contemporary
Folk, Celtic, Blues, Country, and Light Rock." A nice ecclectic
mix! Jan and I first heard Hilda at a club called the Inner Circle
many years ago, and we also enjoyed her, as have many of you,
at her long-time gig at the Hearth and Eagle. Hilda singing a
ballad, transforms whatever space the audience is in to someplace
beautiful. Molly Pauken is a gifted musician in her own right,
and her bass provides the perfect backdrop for Hilda's playing
and singing.
Hilda
has recorded nine albums; the latest with her Celtic group, the
Ladies of Longford (Hilda and her daughters -- Heather Doyle-Fraser
and Stephanie Doyle) entitled Ladies View, available on
compact disc. Hilda is currently "in the studio" finishing
her latest recording -- an all original acoustic CD, entitled
Play Attention.
Her
1996 recording, Movin On, was a collaboration with Toria
Brown that produced an earful of wonderful music. The CD features
many Columbus musicians: Dr. Todd Brown, Molly Pauken, Joel Steward
and guest appearances by Pete Cary, Arnett Howard, Jeff Jones,
Mike Nugent, Rob Brumfield and Andy Woodson.
Hilda
has spent the last few years delving into Celtic music. She has
performed as a guest artist with several local Celtic bands and
was a member of the locally based "Strings in the Glen"
headed by Christine Fraser Ramsey. She will be back at the Dublin
Irish Festival this summer with the Ladies of Longford. And the
"Ladies" will be back at Glenbrook in August for an
outdoor concert.
We
know you won't want to miss this chance to hear Hilda -- up close
and personal!!
