House Concerts at Glenbrook Presents

Saturday Evening with Tullamore Duo

(Brian McCoy & Kim Rattan)

Saturday, February 21st, 8:00 PM

Thom and Jan McCain's Home

146 Glenmont Avenue

Columbus, OH 43214

Donation of $10.00

The Tullamore Duo has a unique, beautiful, and powerful sound. They are hard driving and toe-tapping when playing traditional reels, hornpipes and jigs. Then a soft ballad will take you to a quiet place where love lost and found brings a tear to the eye. We know that you will love this music and these two people, Kim Rattan and Brian McCoy.

Brian McCoy

Flute, Tin Whistle, Low Whistle, Vocals, Irish Bagpipes

The McCoy family hail from Ballaghadereen, County Roscommon, home of many top musicians -- Matt Molloy, Seamus Tansey; the Killorans lived next door. When the McCoy's immigrated to Chicago, Brian met and was influenced by the legendary Irish musicians living in and around the Windy City. He has won numerous competitions, taught and played at The Milwaukee Irish Fest for ten years, and performed at Willie Clancy Week in County Claire, Ireland. Brian was featured in live performance on Irish Radio on numerous occasions. Irish Music Magazine did a feature on his band, The Gabriel Hounds, when they took the USA by storm for five years. He is a brilliant player, among the truly gifted woodwind-players performing today. He has composed a series of new tunes for a soon to be released CD. Many will be featured at the concert. You'll like the twinkle in his Irish eyes.

Kim Rattan

Vocal, Guitar, Stories

Kim Rattan has been a performer all her life. You've probably already heard her on many commercial radio and television spots. But it is Kim's powerfully intricate guitar work and her captivating vocals that make Knockabout such a special sound. She has performed with rock, pop, and Celtic bands over the years. She has the personality and warmth of a close friend, and the power and kick of a whole band all to herself. Her acclaim is as rich as her music -- CD101 FM Spotlight, Artistic Acoustic Coffee House, guest opener for Jonatha Brooke, Paula Cole, side stage soloist for Lillith Fair with Sarah McLachlan, etc. She has played at Polaris Amphitheater, Ludlow's, Dublin Irish Fest, Byrnes Pub, O'Ryan's Pub, Indianapolis Celtic Fest, Peoria Celtic Fest, Westerville Arts Festival, and many more. Kim's musicianship and presence are irresistible.

Performances

Tullamore Duo (previously Knockabout) play locally every Wednesday evening at PK O'Ryan's Pub in Worthington. The Shamrock Club often features them as well. The incredibly talented Bodhran player Eddie Cotter, Jr. joins with Kim and Brian to form a group called The Kells. You'll find The Kells playing out at many of the top Irish Festivals across the US.

House Concerts at Glenbrook is thrilled to present Brian McCoy and Kim Rattan -- The Tullamore Duo.
